Fauste Player

Privacy policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026. This policy covers the Fauste Player desktop application in every distribution: the Microsoft Store, the Snap Store, the packages on the GitHub releases page, and builds from source.

No data is collected

Fauste Player collects no personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no telemetry, and it never sends anything about you, your computer or your music to the author or to anyone else.

What stays on your computer

To work, the application keeps these files in its own folders on your computer (see Data and backups in the user guide for where they are):

These files never leave your computer unless you choose to share them, for example by attaching a log to a bug report. You can delete them at any time; uninstalling the application, or deleting its folders, removes them.

Network

The application opens no outgoing network connections of its own. The optional remote control (an HTTP/JSON API and OSC) is off by default. When you turn it on in Settings, it listens for connections from the clients you allow: it answers them, and sends live updates only to the clients that ask for them. It can be protected with a token and source allow-lists. Links in the application, such as the user guide or the licence, open in your web browser, whose own privacy policy then applies.

Store distribution

The stores that distribute Fauste Player (for example the Microsoft Store or the Snap Store) may collect data about downloads, installs and crashes under their own privacy policies. The author has no control over that data.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. Questions can be asked in the issue tracker or by writing to the author, Marc Sánchez Fauste, through sanchezfauste.com.
